Hunting License Information and Application Packets

The 2011-2012 hunting licenses will go on sale Monday, August 22. 
These licenses will expire August 31, 2012.
 
 The prices below reflect the new prices beginning August 22, 2011.
 
Resident
 
Alabama Residents 65 years of age and over are exempt from purchasing the state hunting license, freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, state duck stamp and wildlife management area license. (MUST have Alabama driver's license or proof of permanent residence and age).  Optional Senior Lifetime License available.
 
An ALABAMA RESIDENT can fish from the bank in their county of residence with hook and line (live bait only) without purchasing a license. Resident must be able to provide reasonable proof of residency while fishing. 
 

Recreational Licenses Availablefor Purchase by Phone, Website and Electronic Agents.  Most recreational licenses can be purchased at our Montgomery Office, our District Offices, County Probate/License Commissioner's Offices, and local agents (which includes most sporting goods/ bait & tackle shops in Alabama), over the website(2% fee), or by telephone 1-888-848-6887 ($3.95).

Allows a resident age 16 - 63  to hunt all legal (includes deer and/or turkey) game within Alabama. Includes the wildlife heritage privileges. Expires August 31 annually. No trip licenses available.(Residents 64 are issued a 64 Lifetime License)

Wildlife Heritage License
Allows residents age 16 - 63 (residents 64 see 64 Lifetime License) to fish in freshwater statewide with hook and line from the bank, fish in WFF operated Public Fishing Lakes (daily lake permits required), hunt small game (except waterfowl) on WFF WMA (WMA permit required), shoot on WFF managed shooting ranges and support wildlife. Expires August 31 annually.

Wildlife Management Area License
Allows residents age 16 - 64 and nonresidents age 16 and over to hunt on WMA, in addition to the appropriate hunting license and WMA map/permit (free). Shooting range users on WMA are required to have a valid hunting license, WMA license or Wildlife Heritage license. Expires August 31 annually.

Allows disabled persons to use a device that holds the bow at full or partial draw, to hunt in Alabama. Crossbows require no permit.

All Nonresidents 16 years of age and over are required to have appropriate licenses.

It is illegal in Alabama for a nonresident with a valid driver's license to possess an Alabama Non-Driver's ID card.
