Sculpin
| |
Tallapoosa - The Tallapoosa sculpin was described in 2007 because the sculpins in the Tallapoosa River drainage of Alabama and Georgia were different than other sculpins. |
Banded - Found throughout much of Alabama, the banded sculpin prefers cool, clean water and requires cobble, rubble, and flat rocks in which to hide; it can be distinguished from the mottled sculpin by a less robust body. |
Mottled - In Alabama, the mottled sculpin is only found in the Tennessee River basin and the upper Coosa system. |
Pygmy - Pygmy sculpin are endemic to Alabama, living only in Coldwater Spring and its adjacent dowstream spring run, which is a tributary to Choccolocco Creek. |
